London might not be considered the most romantic city in Europe, but it is definitely a great city for all stages of a relationship. Whether you are dating someone new or in it for the long haul with your significant other, London can keep it interesting with romantic date ideas to suit all sorts of couples. Spending a romantic day in London is bound to be something special, and whether you crammed a day full of a few of these fun activities or just did one or two, you will definitely be making some awesome memories with your loved one.

1. Kew Gardens

If you are looking for somewhere pretty with some bloomin’ lovely conversation starters, Kew Gardens is the perfect place for a first or fifteenth date. With wild meadows, botanic gardens, glass houses, and treetop walks, there are plenty of stunning landscapes to explore with your beau before checking out the art galleries or grabbing a bite to eat.

2. Boating in Hyde Park

Channel your inner Allie and Noah (the Notebook, duh) and hop on a boat in the Serpentine. Well, it is more like a pedalo, but who doesn't love a bit of old-school date fun? It is a great option for a sunny afternoon where no one will disturb you as you get to know each other or rekindle that romance.

3. Sunset cruise on the Thames

If you would rather leave the boat driving to the professionals, what better time to cruise through the city than at sunset? Whether you are on a dinner cruise, show cruise, or regular sightseeing cruise, the Thames is an ideal place to get an unobstructed view of some of London’s finest landmarks, including Tower Bridge, Big Ben, and the London Eye.

4. Axe-throwing

Yes, this one is a little different, but it will definitely be one to remember. How many times have you gone on an axe-throwing date?! Axe-throwing is a totally safe and super fun experience where you can sling a few bullseyes to impress your date often while enjoying food and drinks as you play. If axe-throwing is not really your thing, check out bars that feature games like mini golf, bowling, and ping pong, London has it all. It gives you way more to talk about, as well as lets you show off your skills.

5. Dinner on the Murder Express

For dinner with a difference, you should embark on this award-winning immersive theatrical dining experience. You will enjoy a four-course meal and cocktails aboard the infamous Murder Express and be smack bang in the middle of the action as you watch the murder mystery unfold around you. You and your date can have heaps of fun trying to work out who the murderer is unless it’s one of you, of course…

6. Gin tour and tasting

If there is one thing we Londoners love, it is gin. So why not capitalise on that with your date and, instead of just ordering a couple of G&Ts when you go out for drinks, make it all about the good stuff? As you can imagine, there are heaps of gin distilleries in the city, but one of our favourites is the local East London Liquor Company, which offers gin tours and tastings at their distillery in Bethnal Green. And if you are not a fan of gin, they do whisky tours too.

7. Up at the O2

Looking for something a bit more adventurous? You will definitely get that adrenaline pumping with your date by climbing 52 metres high across the roof of one of London’s most iconic venues - the O2! Climb during the day to get views for miles across the city (weather permitting), at sunset for that extra special romantic experience, or at twilight to watch as the city starts to sparkle.

From traditional to quirky, London is a city of amazing and unique romantic date ideas, and this is just the tip of the iceberg. But I can guarantee that any of these 7 ideas will give you and your date something to remember and if it was a first date, something to talk about on your next one…
