A summer day in Porto Cesareo

Porto Cesareo is a small town located on the Ionian side of the Salento peninsula, in the southern-Italian region of Apulia. It is a popular tourist destination and the perfect location to spend a relaxing summer vacation day. The entire area around Porto Cesareo is famous for its beautiful beaches and shallow crystal-clear waters. The coastal section here is one of the most beautiful ones in Apulia and the perfect place for swimming, floating in the water and sunbathing.

Morning

 Breakfast is not really a big meal in Italy, so you can just stop at any bar in Porto Cesaero and enjoy a delicious Espresso along with a small local pastry. Even though the town itself has also a beautiful city beach, I would recommend to drive a few minutes away and go to one of the surrounding paradisiac sections. One of the most beautiful ones is the small bay around Torre Chianca. You can choose between a public beach or a “Lido”, where you can rent an umbrella and sunbed. 

Afternoon

You can either bring your own snacks, like a panino, or enjoy a light lunch with fresh seasonal ingredients at the TABU Fashion beach. TABU has a lido, café and restaurant, places to sit inside and outside, as well as a chill lounge in the shade. After refueling, it is time to fully soak up the beauty of the beach and of the surrounding nature. The water is perfect for relaxing on a floaty and for swimming in the transparent Ionian Sea. If you don’t want to get into the water, the choice of sunbeds and the fine sand, make it also a great location just for sunbathing.

Evening 

After a relaxing beach day, it is time to get back to the town center of Porto Cesareo. The town has a gorgeous beach promenade alongside the port. There are countless café and restaurant options with sea view. Let the day come to an end by enjoying an Aperitivo drink with some local finger food, while watching the sunset. 

Porto Cesareo and the surrounding beaches are among the places in Apulia that make it hard to believe that you are still in Europe. Enjoy the Caribbean beach feeling and the laid-back atmosphere of this touristic, vivid town center.
