A tour of the student life in Azerbaijan: ADA University

We all know it, everyone likes travelling. It is easy to fly to another country for a week, but to stay there for years, especially as a student is a completely different experience. An added value of the student life in my country is the opportunity to explore the land of fire-Azerbaijan.

Every year, more than 10000 international students from over 50 countries come to study at Azerbaijan universities. Nowadays, the ADA University offers programs and services designed to meet the needs of international students from all over the world.

The ADA is a university established in order to train highly qualified specialists in the field of the international relations and business. The opening ceremony of the ADA University was in January 2007. Every year the University announces the opening of a scholarship program for international students. The scholarship is intended to cover the tuition fee, as well as the accommodation and study materials.

Hours spent away from the lectures

Conditionally we divide the student life into two parts. The first part deals directly with educational activities such as attending lectures, sessions, exams etc. In the second part, we will reveal the main points outside the student's academic life: hours spent away from the lectures.

Everyone knows that students live happy and exciting life. They do it thanks to the various events held within the walls of the university. Likewise, the ADA University encourages its students to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the ADA clubs: ADA Model UN Club, Drama Club, Intellectual Games Club, Music Club, ADA Outdoors Men Club, Art and Creativity Club.

Dede Gorgud Park

From September 2012 the ADA University changed it's place and today it is located in one of the greenery places of Baku near the Dede Gorgud Park. This park, within 6 hectares of area, is one of the largest parks in Baku. There are all conditions for relaxation of students: the greenery, the artificial lake and the lighting system that meets modern standards. Dede Gorgud Park is an open-air demonstration of ancient Azerbaijan history traditions, lifestyle and culture. At the centre of the park, students can enjoy the great "Kitabi-Dede Gorgud" monument. Students will find a quiet corner to study, but also lively squares hosting domestic and international exhibits, performances and festivals throughout the year.

International Student Festival

Every year, the International Student Festival in Baku is held by the ADA University. During the event, students present the information about the countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America.

Stands from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Sweden, that participate in the festival, present their national dances, music and cuisine to the guests from different embassies and governmental agencies.

Housing and Accommodation

Students have the opportunity to choose the types of accommodation that are suitable for them: someone can prefer an university accommodation, while others rent an apartment individually or together with other students. The ADA University offers the “Tabriz Evleri” apartments to the international students during their studies. The "Tabriz Evleri” apartments are located at a walking distance from the ADA University. There are different markets, a post office, a polyclinic, restaurants and bus stations near the “Tabriz Evleri”.
