Located on the territory of the Ugra National Park in the Kaluga Region, the Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park presents a beautiful blend of art and nature. It all started in 2006 when the Russian artist Nikolay Polissky and the participants of the Arkhstoyanie, Russia's largest land art and architecture festival, created their installations to "penetrate the landscape". As a result, they added fantastic architectural constructions to the traditional Russian landscape. If you are a modern art lover and a nature enthusiast, the incredible Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park near Kaluga is the best place for you.

Strange creatures as objects of art

Some works of arts in this park evoke strange creatures or big puzzles. The art installation "Rotunda" is a small roundhouse composed of many doors, and into the "Barn", the daylight enters through small holes creating a starlight effect. These artworks are interesting from the inside and the outside. If the information boards and self-explanatory names like the "Brain", the "Firebird" or the "Golden Calf" are not telling you much, perhaps it is better to take a guided tour.

All installations are made from natural materials, such as wood, birch bark, twigs, or even pine cones. As the Arkhstoyanie Festival is held twice a year, the art collection of this park is continually modified. Some objects are added, and others are moved to other locations. The permanent collection includes about 30 items.

Enjoy traditional Russian landscape

The art objects blend perfectly into the beautiful landscape. Summer is the best time for visiting the Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park when you can admire the traditional Russian scenery. Sunlit meadows with wildflowers, shadow paths in the forest, a lush green hilltop surmounted by an old church, the Ugra River with its slow movement and silver shining. You can have a picnic on the lawn or sit inside the work of art called "Ear", and listen to the sounds of nature.

Outdoor activities

The art objects in the Nikola-Lenivets Art-Park are scattered over an area of 650 ha. As this park is a pedestrian zone, it is an excellent opportunity for hiking and other outdoor activities. To see all the works of modern art, be ready to walk between 10 and 15 km. The fresh air and beautiful landscapes make this tour pleasant and easy. You can climb the winding stairs of the 18-meter high "Lighthouse" or observe the surroundings from the 22-meter high "Beaubourg ". The "Fast Track," the 52-meter long reinforced rubber road, is the longest trampoline in Europe and a fun way to get from one place to another. Or if you prefer, you can rent a bicycle or a horse.
