The Technical Museum of Slovenia is located in the former Carthusian monastery in Bistra near Vrhnika, which is only twenty kilometers from Ljubljana. In addition to touring museum collections, visitors can enjoy a pleasant rest in a peaceful natural environment, away from the city bustle, with the tranquil sounds of the pubescent museum stream. Among the monasteries and corridors there are numerous permanent collections in the fields of agriculture, transport, forestry, wood industry, hunting, fishing, textiles, electrical engineering and printing. Visitors pay a lot of attention to the collection of Tito's cars and water-powered devices, such as a cereal mill, a blender, a reconstructed veneer plant and a venetian saw. Some of the activities are also on display during Sunday demonstrations. Objects and devices that we discover in collections carry many fun, educational and interesting stories and answer many questions: What kind of car were my old parents driving? How is my grandmother baking bread? What were the clothes we wore? In addition to leading exhibitions in Slovene, English, Italian and German, the museum also offers numerous courses, workshops and demonstrations every Sunday, through which young and adult visitors can really feel the technological spirit of the past. By prior arrangement, it is possible to organize workshops and demonstrations outside the published schedules. The museum also hosts festivals, which are being prepared in cooperation with other educational institutions.
