Carpe Diem at 2147m - Krystallhütte

Krystallhütte or in English crystal hut is one of the best and finest Austrian mountain huts. It has been awarded the Ski Hut of the year several times in a row. Krystallhütte is not an easy find and definitely not easy to reach. It is located high up in the Zillertal Alps above the town Kaltenbach at 2147 meters above sea level. No roads lead to it. In summer in order to visit it first you have to drive on a steep mountain road and then hike one hour in one direction. In winter it is easier, but only if you are a good skier, after changing few lifts and skiing some kilometres you will be able to reach the lodge. For the overnight guests luggage is transported from the stuff.

Once you have reached it, Krystallhütte will not disappoint you, a cosy tavern, an open show kitchen with the gourmet restaurant, a noble bar, a stunning view from the large terrace. The restaurant offers up to 5-course gourmet menus with regional specialities every day. Celebrity chefs such as Tim Mälzer, Axel Henkel (Zanzibar Sylt) and Mario Lohninger (Cocoon Club Frankfurt) were here. Various events are organized in Krystallhütte such as Jazzbrunch, exhibitions of works of art, Full Moon Skiing, the Winzer Wedel Cup ski race etc.

In the winter most skiers enjoy the large sun terrace and every day, the finest music is played through the speakers. Different DJs care for chill out beats and a cool, relaxed atmosphere.

Guests are also provided with the possibility for overnight stay in one of the eight modern luxury double rooms with panoramic view overlooking the Alps. There is also small wellness area for the guests.

The Krystallhütte is the premium hut, which has catapulted the traditional ski hut spirit and turned it into something new and fresh. As you can see they offer the full program and if skiing in the area of Zillertal it is worth visiting.
