Cetinje was a very important place through the whole history of Montenegro. Today, it is a site of numerous national institutions such as Ministry of Culture, National Library, National Museum of Montenegro and the President of our country has his official residence just here.
Many other places like Biljarda, Cetinje Monastery, Zetski Dom royal theatre and Vlaška church are among the places where you can learn so much about Montenegrin history as well as about the current situation. Very rich cultural and historical heritage make Cetinje inevitable destination for many journeys and excursions.
Being only 30-40 minutes drive from Podgorica, sometimes I go to Cetinje only to visit a small oldshool cake shop Fontana near to the main street. There one can find the best cremeschnitte in Montenegro. What I really like about Cetinje is the chill atmosphere of the town, streets full of young people and cute colorful house facades that gives Cetinje a special charm.
One more fact you'll like is that many destination outside of the town are easily reachable. When visiting Cetinje by car, you shouldn't miss driving to Lovcen, the mountain surrounding Cetinje where you can climb up the peak and visit Mausoleum or enjoy in Adventure Park close to the road. If you are always seeking for a different kind of adventures, than you would certainly want to consider visiting Lipa cave, one of the biggest caves in the former Yugoslavia.
Inside or outside of the city, Cetinje has a lot to offer. It is just your decision whether you are going to have a chill-out day or a day full of activities.
