Since the wave of digital nomadism, traveling developed from being a short holiday into a permanent lifestyle. Digital Nomads (aka Knowmads, or Flylancers) work online and remotely – all they need is their laptop and a decent WIFI connection; hence they can work from anywhere they want. If you’re a Flylancer though, you’re probably aware of how important it is to get into a work environment, where you can get your things done productively and even more important: get in touch with like-minded travelers in the Digital Nomad community. Although most Knowmads initially choose South East Asia or Central America as their favoured destinations (because of the low living expenses), Europe is getting more and more popular. Good infrastructures, safety, fast WIFI, excellent living conditions, cheap international flights, and a compressed diversity of cultures makes it so interesting for anyone who’s working remotely. For that matter, Hamburg is evolving into one of Europe’s Hotspots for Digital Nomadism: with more than thirty co-working spaces for all kinds of entrepreneurs, creative free-spirits and Knowmads, it provides a vibrant and inspiring community. As a real Hamburg lass and Flylancer myself, I made a selection of the coolest coworking spaces for Digital Nomads in Hamburg.

BETAHAUS

My favorite coworking space in Hamburg is Betahaus: with its light-flooded and minimalistic interior design and artistic spirit, it’s by far the cheapest option (if you rent a desk monthly). Since it’s located in Sternschanze, one of the coolest districts in Hamburg, it’s surrounded by magnificent and cheap cafés and restaurants for lunch breaks (check out the vegan Kebab at Schanzendöner for 4,50€, the best Falafel in town at Kimo for 2,50€ or a filled baked potato at Kumpir for about 3,90€) and also cool bars for an after-work drink (the Caipi happy hour at the bar Katze, only one minute walking distance away from Betahaus is one of the most iconic after-work places among locals). What I like the most about Betahaus though, is the active community and the many workshops, talks, and networking events. It has a very creative and alternative vibe, great coffee, really friendly staff, and diverse, inspiring co-workers.

Daily Ticket: 17 EUR | Monthly Ticket: 89 EUR

BEEHIVE

Another excellent coworking space in Hamburg is Beehive, with three different locations in town (Neustadt, Bahrenfeld and City). The branding and interior design of these cool coworking spaces are super stylish, at which each of their locations shows a different design concept. And just like in real beehives it’s all about communication and networking here. So if you’re searching for a vibrant community when travelling to Hamburg as a Digital Nomad, that’s your go-to-place! It’s also known to be the most flexible coworking platform in Germany with the accessibility of 24/7 and still the cheapest option for single-day or weekly users.

DIE DIELE

Located in the hip area Ottensen, Die Diele offers a cozy and calm work environment for Digital Nomads. The spirit of this small coworking space is very personal and familial, while the interior shows off a mix of industrial decoration, lots of warm wood and modern furniture. A great feature of Die Diele is the ergonomic chairs and tables that make even the longest day of work comfortable. Despite the small community – or maybe also because of it – you’ll connect very quickly to each individual of the coworking space. And another aspect speaking for Die Diele is the lively neighborhood that offers lovely little places for lunch breaks.

Daily Ticket: 16 EUR | 10-Day-Pass: 150 EUR | Monthly Ticket: 230 EUR

FETTE HÖFE

If you’re a travelling artist or creative nomad, you might be looking for more of an art collective or atelier, than a coworking space. In this case, Fette Höfe will be the perfect place for you! This very unique coworking space is considered as a community atelier and studio for freelance artists, graphic designers, writers, architects, motion designers, and many more. With its creatively chaotic and yet clean interior design including lots of concrete and big windows, Fette Höfe generates an artistic vibe for creative coworkers. Situated in the district Altona, there are moreover lots of supermarkets and restaurants around for lunch breaks in between your creative projects. Come here if you’re staying in Hamburg for a more extended period (since there are only monthly tickets available) and if you are looking for an inspiring exchange of like-minded, artistic free spirits!

Monthly Ticket: 290 EUR
