Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a federal state in northern Germany and its capital city is Schwerin....

The state was formed through the merger of the historic regions of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania after the Second World War, dissolved in 1952 and recreated at the time of the German reunification in 1990. The least populated region of Germany is marked by its unspoilt nature, its coasts or alternate beaches and cliffs, immortalized by the great painter of Romanticism, Caspar David Friedrich. Tourism is becoming one of the main economic factors in the region. The infrastructure has been significantly improved while preserving the landscape, nature and the environment. Regular ferries take you to the islands, if they are not connected by dikes to the mainland. 283 nature reserves, 110 protected sites, three national parks and two biosphere reserves testify to the importance of protecting nature and the environment here. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also attracts tourists with its many castles and mansions as well as summer music festivals.
