Famous for its Himalayan landscapes and station hills, Himachal Pradesh is a predominantly mountainous region referred to as “Abode of Snow”. As its name suggests, this region offers some incredible outdoor activities. Mountaineering, rock climbing, trekking, mountain biking, skiing, paragliding – you name it, everything is possible here. Particularly attractive is ice-skating, as the city of Shimla is home to the only natural ice-skating rink in Asia. Hill stations Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Chamba, Kasauli, are popular among local and foreign tourists. Another attraction worth experiencing is the Kalka-Shimla train ride, the UNESCO protected site. Besides craggy rugs, this state boasts in Hindu pilgrimage sites. Himachal Pradesh is believed to be the “Abode of God”, as many deities like Lord Shiva considered the Himalayas their home. Moreover, Dharamshala with its Tibetan monasteries and temples is home of the Dalai Lama. Hence, Buddhist temples like Naina Devi, Bajreshwari Mata, Jwala Ji, Chintpurni warmly welcome all faith seekers.
