Kaunas County, with its capital Kaunas, is centrally located in Lithuania, and is at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers....

Kaunas is the second largest city in LIthuania, and has been an important city historically, serving as the capital of the country between the first and second World Wars. The city is full of examples of art deco architecture that date to the interwar time period. The historic Old Town in Kaunas features plenty of things to do and see — the medieval Kaunas Castle, the Town Hall with its striking tower, and the neo-baroque Presidential Palace which today is home to a branch of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Art Museum. The city has many parks, a botanical garden, and a zoo. Kaunas also has a symphony orchestra, many types of theaters, as well as a variety of sports teams.
