Siauliai

Siauliai County is found in the north central part of Lithuania. Its capital city, Siauliai, is the fourth largest city in the country....

Historically, the city was founded as a defensive post in the Middle Ages. Walking around town, you never know what you might find, as there are many sculptures scattered throughout. Siauliai is also home to several museums, including a bicycle museum and a photography museum. Perhaps the most visited place in Siauliai County is the Hill of Crosses, located just to the northeast of the city of Siauliai. The Hill of Crosses is a place of pilgrimage that features over 100,000 crosses, and while the origin of the site is a little unclear, crosses have been placed on the hill since the 1800s after rebellions against Russia.
