The landscape is mountainous, with peaks being Russia’s (and Europe’s !) highest. Surrounded by surreal landscapes, you can find many man-made monuments left behind by past generations of locals. Unfortunately, this region, whose culture and history could make it one of the most exotic and thrilling in Russia, is nowadays somehow dangerous; many official Foreign Affair offices advise their citizens to avoid that part of Russia.
