The canton itself is formed on the Plateau Suisse and on the Jura. The landscape is marked by the plain of Aar and the Jura’s mountains. The highest peak of the canton is Hasenmatt. There are many things to do around the area, such as the Natural Parc of Thal, the Goetheanum, the Cathedral of Saint-Ours and Saint-Victor, the Abbey of Notre-Dame-de-la-Pierre and Verena Gorge Hermitage.
