Now, when you are sitting at your same old desk, behind the huge computer screen, sipping your fifth coffee of the day, you are probably feeling as if you would like to spice things up a bit. The work day monotony is killing you, while the work overload is causing you more stress than ever. The good news is that the weekend is finally approaching. The great news is that I have an amazing, hidden spot in Belgian capital Brussels, that will truly spice up your week, or even your month. If you are one of those people who kind of got bored of the same old pubs and bars that offer wonderful traditional Belgian beer and snacks, then you are reading the right article. If you however, are an avid and loyal fan of Belgian products, then it is time to try out something new. This time I am taking you to try the most amazing, unique cocktails, and all in the most authentic place in the heart of Brussels, called La Pharmacie Anglaise.

As the name of the place clearly indicated (La Pharmacie Anglaise = English Pharmacy), this remarkable bar is located in the spot of a very old, rustic pharmacy, dating back to centuries ago. Also, this place is said to be one of the most authentic and unique spots in Brussels. It is also the top of the hidden spots in the city. Once you see it, you will certainly notice it, but you will most definitely not guess exactly what it is. Once you pass by La Pharmacie Anglaise for the first time, your thoughts will go wild and guesses will vary – from pharmacy, repair place, old rustic store but not a bar where you can drink the most authentic cocktails.

Moreover, what makes this space special is that, prior to entering, you must first ring on a doorbell. After a few minutes, you will be greeted by a flamboyantly dressed host who will open the door for you and guide you to your spot. Make sure you follow him closely as the place is very dark, especially for someone who has bad eyesight (I feel you). On top of that, I am pretty sure you will be gazing around at the strange décor of the place that is seemingly quite random. However, once you pay more attention you will see that every prop, every wallpaper, every paining is set on a carefully selected spot to grab your attention.

Once you are set on the most comfortable seats, enjoying the dim lights and the very cool atmosphere, you will feel lost at first glance at their cocktail menu. That is why I'd warmly recommend you to take advantage of lovely and helpful English-speaking staff who will explain each of the drinks to you in detail, or even create a unique one for your tastes. Make sure not to go too crazy, as one cocktail is 15 euros, but trust me it is definitely worth it.
