Capela de São Jerónimo

This chapel was built in 1514, and had since its inception a strong connection to Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. It has a squared structure, a simple design, ornate with four spires at the top, gargoyles that stem out on each corner, and a few traces of the naval developments of D.Manuel I's reign and manuelin architecture. From the entrance you get a great view of the lawn below, the dense woods, the city spreading downhill and the Tejo estuary. Its interior is decorated with a triumphal arch, and the altar with old mosaics.
