I made the most of my day trip to the wonderful coastal town of Peñíscola and visited some of the locations in which Game of Thrones was filmed (Season 6). I am a huge fan of the series Game of Thrones, which sadly released its last episode last April, revealing the end. Many people agree with me when I say that Game of Thrones is one of the best series ever made, and as a big fan, I am going to show you some of the locations in Peñíscola, where the HBO filmed for the Season 6 of the series.

Peñíscola became Meereen

Peñiscola became Meereen, the northernmost and greatest of the three great city-states of Slaver's Bay. Let me remind you that this is the city in which there are about three slaves for each free man when Daenerys Targaryen first arrives in. But Meereen ends up being the city taken by Daenerys Targaryen - mother of dragons or Khaleesi - to free the slaves with their army.

The Artillery Park

The Artillery Park is a botanical park, where you can walk among palm trees, olive trees, lavenders, and the native flora of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Irta - the natural park that surrounds Peñíscola. From the Artillery Park, you also get fantastic views to the Mediterranean Sea and the castle. The price for the entrance is 5€ per person, but it also includes the ticket to enter the Peñíscola Castle, which I highly recommend you to visit.

The Artillery Park appears in episode 4 of Season 6, when Tyrion, Missandei, and Gray Worm stroll, deciding on the future of the city. HBO could not have chosen a more beautiful location to recreate Meereen

Calle Mayor or Rampa de Felipe II

Tyrion goes down with Varys on this ramp, while they are commenting on a tactic to help Daenerys with her purpose. While walking down, they give alms to a woman who is breastfeeding her baby. This location appears in episode 1 of Season 6. In the Middle Ages, all the merchants used to access the city throughout this ramp, to sell and exchange their products.

Plaza de Santa María

The Plaza de Santa María, or Santa Maria Square, is where the oldest archaeological remains of the city have been found - remains of Roman and Arabic walls.  This place also appears in episode 1 of Season 6, when Tyrion and Varys walk around the town while they talk and decide about the future of the city. What a long walk they had around the old part of Peñíscola

Visit Peñíscola, and walk around the same places some of the greatest actors and actresses of Game of Thrones did! You will probably feel fortunate to be in such an amazing town!
