The spring has come, and everything you want is to run away somewhere in nature. Am I right? If you are looking for a new challenge, you should think about hiking paths in Croatia and visit Velebit. In Croatia, you will hear people saying that Velebit is "one and only one“. It’s like worshipping towards nature there, and that same nature gives many things in return. Most of Croatians think that Velebit is one of the most beautiful mountains in the whole country. And as it has few opponents for that position, it can proudly carry the title of the most beautiful one. From whatever side you approach this magical giant, it will leave you breathless.

Premužićeva staza

I will take you to one of the most famous hiking paths in Croatia, Premužićeva staza (Premužićeva path). On the north side of Velebit Nature Park, under the UNESCO protection, nature gave its best to show us what can be created. It goes along the middle and north part of the mountains, and it's 57 kilometers long. It connects Zviždan and Baške Oštarije. Although it is very long, it doesn't have difficult steep parts. It is marked all the way, and along the path, you will find yourself in most wonderful parts of the mountain. In one moment, you will see the Adriatic Sea, and in the other, you will have an amazing view of the mainland. The name of the path comes from an engineer who built it. According to documents, it was built for three years, from 1930 to 1933. Even if you are not in the condition for long walks, you can take a hiking tour for only 7-10 km, and still, you can see the most interesting parts of this natural treasure. One of those hiking tours will take you from Jablanac. There will be everything you need to see.

Stap and Kamena galerija (Ston Galery)

In the southern part of the Velebit mountain, from Baške Oštarije to National park Paklenica, you can go for hiking along the shorter but steeper path - Stap. For this one, you need to have advanced hiking skills and a good condition, and my advice is not to go if you are not sure you can face it. The path on Stap and its Stone Gallery will give you an amazing view of the Adriatic Sea. The path was built by Slavko Tomerlin Tatek and gave very interesting names to the most interesting parts of this path. So, you will go through Zlatna Vrata (Golden Gate), Terasa noževa (Terass of knives), and many more.

Mali Princ path (Little Princ path)

One of the most demanded one, Mali Princ path, which starts at Crnopac, is on the most southern part of Velebit. It is a very rocky path, full of cliffs and amazing shapes of rocks. Prepare yourself to be proud, if you make it through this path.
