Over the past two decades, Hungary became one of the most iconic countries that provide lovers of music with several superb summer festivals. It is worth taking care of your ticket and accommodation in advance because this way you can save a bunch of money. Even though it can be tasking to find decent accommodation for the concerned days of the particular festival months ahead, it’s way better to start arranging your basics in the spring than acting in the haste days before the big shot. This year, Hungary is again going to line up many of the biggest names in today’s music industry. Come with me and check out my guide for the Hungarian music festivals in 2019. Believe me, you don't want to miss out!

Telekom VOLT Festival

This well-known music festival is held in the northern Hungarian windy town of loyalty, Sopron. Telekom VOLT Festival offers a unique local experience at the foot of the Sopron mountains, in an idyllic environment. The number of the biggest foreign performers keep increasing every upcoming year, but it already counts as a really prestigious festival. Many musical styles are represented, as there have been bands from each and every genre here over the past years. Still, I would say the VOLT Festival is best suited to those who love rock and alternative music.

2019’s biggest names: Slipknot, Black Eyed Peas, Slash, Papa Roach, Cypress Hill, Robin Schulz, Martin Solveig, Lost Frequencies

Takes place: 26.06.2019-29.06.2019

Balaton Sound Festival

This electronic music festival was first held in 2007, and ever since, it has become more and more popular. Balaton Sound Festival takes place every year in Zamárdi, at the shore of Central Europe’s biggest lake, Balaton. Amongst the performers, you can find the greatest names from the world of electronic music, but of course, other talented DJs also get their own opportunity. Moreover, in recent years, it became kind of a tradition to invite at least one or two of today’s most successful rappers and other bands from different genres. This festival guarantees a true 24/7 party experience, but there is also a place for those who want to relax until their next favourite’s show. There are only very few festivals that capture the true mood of summer this much. One of my favs.

2019’s biggest names: Armin van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, J Balvin, Future, G-Eazy, Marshmello, Tiesto, Timmy Trumpet, Jess Glynn

Takes place: 03.07.2019-07.07.2019

Sziget Festival

This is the biggest Hungarian music festival, which everyone has already surely heard about. Sziget was founded in 1993 and has grown into an incredibly large award-winning international event series since then. Many of the most famous foreign and Hungarian singers and bands perform on the Óbudai-island every year, alongside nearly half a million guests. There are many cultural programs in addition and a bloody intense whirl of sounds through seven thrilling days in Budapest. Year by year, huge names get to be announced, and 2019 won’t be different either. Like the festivals or not, you must be here at least once in your life because the Sziget Festival is one of the most incredible shows in Europe!

2019’s biggest names: Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Post Malone, Twenty One Pilots, Martin Garrix

Takes place: 07.08.2019-13.08.2019
