Valencia is quite well known for its beautiful, long, sandy beaches, located quite close to the city, attracting plenty of tourists during the year. I have already written about Malvarrosa Beach (the most touristic beach in Valencia) and some party places next to it. I've also presented a quieter, wilder beach called El Saler, that can be found near the fantastic natural park La Albufera. However, there is another beach you need to know about, called "La Patacona." In fact, this beach feels a bit more local, and most importantly, it is where you can find one of my favorite beach bars with unique decoration and friendly atmosphere.

La Patacona is the beach that follows Malvarrosa towards the north, and although it is very close to Valencia, it belongs to the municipality of Alboraya. La Patacona Beach is the best option for those who want to go to the beach without leaving Valencia. It is ideal for those looking for a less touristic option, farther away from the hustle and bustle of bars, restaurants, pubs and the leisure areas of Malvarrosa Beach and the port area. It is very easy to get there; you can either use public transportation (there are different bus lines) or even go by bike or on foot. It is just at the end of Malvarrosa Beach! I recommend the last option since the walk there is really enjoyable. La Patacona has other attractions that make it worth visiting. It is only a few minutes away from the typical Valencian orchard landscape, and the area where you can taste the best horchata in Valencia, in Alboraya. It is also the place where one of the most beautiful bars is located, called "La más Bonita."

La más Bonita

La más Bonita ("the most beautiful" in English) is a space inspired by the traditional Formentera houses. It is my favorite place in La Patacona due to its fantastic decoration, food and smoothies, and of course, its great atmosphere. They have very high ceilings, a rustic construction with "imperfect" walls, blue and white colors all over the place. You can find three different spaces there: the restaurant, where you can have a delicious meal, a terrace overlooking the sea, and a cozy interior patio, where you can relax and enjoy the proper Mediterranean sun.

In "La más Bonita", you can have breakfast or brunch, after a walk on the beach and a swim. You can also have lunch or dinner since the kitchen is open all week long from 8.00 am to 1:30 pm. They also have alcohol or alcohol-free cocktails, one of their many specialties. I recommend you trying its "La más Bonita sandwich" and one of their smoothies since they are very refreshing, healthy and tasty. In this Mediterranean-style space, every detail matters, and even their waitresses and waiters wear very colorful outfits. The prices are reasonable if you consider the location and the service is really good. I honestly think this is the perfect place to enjoy Mediterranean food or drinks. You instantly feel like home and enjoy the site and its decoration
