Description

The Hellenistic Gymnasium, commonly known as Xisto, is located near the harbour in the eastern part of Kos Town. It is part of a bigger complex that includes the Acropolis, the Hippodrome, the Nymphaeum and some ruins from temples dedicated to Aphrodite and Hercules. Their stunning architecture comes from the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The style in which the Gymnasium was built is Doric, and only seventeen of the eighty-one columns survived, and these are decorated with intricate lion heads. This area is built close to tall pine and other kinds of trees, so take a moment to enjoy your surroundings. © Wikipedia/ecorentalskos-2020
