Antalya Oyuncak Müzesi

Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından projelendirilen ve araştırmacı yazar Sunay Akın’ın küratörlüğünde yapımı tamamlanan Antalya Oyuncak Müzesi düzenlenen törenle hizmete açıldı. Müzede 1860’lı yıllardan günümüze uzanan yaklaşık 1200 oyuncak bulunuyor.

The Metropolitan Municipality of Antalya has realized Antalya Toy Museum on 23 April 2011 as one of its cultural projects. The museum has opened under the advisory of researcher, poet, writer, and the founder of İstanbul Toy Museum, the first toy museum in Turkey, Sunay Akın. The museum invites not only the children but also adults into its mythical world, and takes them to a magic journey back towards their childhood. The toy museum opening in the city where Santa Claus, who distributes toys all over the world, was born is also very meaningful. The museum exhibits around 1 thousand toys dating from 1860s to 1980s some with antique value. Apart from the toy examples produced by the first factories that emerged with the Industrial Revolution, distinguished samples of toy history and some rare examples of doll houses are among the favourites of the visitors. You are welcomed by a paper boat in front of the museum down at the Old Town Harbour. The paper boat, which is also the symbol of Antalya Toy Museum blends in with the historical harbour context. The interior design of the museum is done by performance arts designer Ayhan Doğan. The tourists visiting the museum are awed and blissed by finding toys reflecting their culture and childhood thousands of kilometers away. Every visitor to the museum finds something regarding their childhood or being a child in general. Antalya Toy Museum is open for visit everyday excluding Mondays between 09.00- 18.00.
