Cacilhas is a district located in the northeast of Almada, in the south bank of the Tejo. Its history as a povoation dates back to the bronze age, later becoming an important phoenician trading post and city. The connection to the waters and its central role in the communication network is present still today. Cacilhas is mostly known for its fresh fish gastronomy, its naval transport structure (connecting to Lisboa through the popular 'cacilheiros' boats) and also its fantastic riverside sights, but don't miss out on its welcoming streets and the monuments that span many eras!
