The idea behind the Centro Cultural de Belém is that of a contemporary 'open city', with buildings, streets, squares and bridges. With its central location near the river, the monuments and gardens of Belém, the CCB celebrates the creation and difusion of culture, dialog and relexion with a vast program of events that try to cover all areas of culture, aswell as a place for conferences, congresses and institutional events. Since 2007, CCB is also the home of the Museu Colecção Berardo, a modern and contemporary arts museum. There are three main buildings: the Centro de Reuniões (meeting center) with two auditoriums for meetings of any kind and dimension, and also several stores, a restaurant and two bars. The Centro de Espectáculos (spectacle center), the main place of CCB's artistic and cultural program, with three rooms for various kinds of live and musical shows. And the Centro de Exposições (exhibition center), with several areas and galeries that present exhibitions regarding art, arquitecture, design and photography.
