The city park of Maastricht is one of the oldest parks in the Netherlands. It has been around for over 175 years. The park has been divided in several sectors. ‘D’n Ingelsen hoof’ is a small strip between the Meuse river and the Meuse-boulevard. ‘Kempland’ is a big sunbathing area between the Meuse-boulevard and the ‘Onze Lieve Vrouwewal’. The ‘Faliezusterpark is located between the ‘Helpoort’ and the ‘Poort Waerachtig’. In the ‘Aldenhofpark’ you can find Maastricht’s former bear pit and a monument of d’Artagnan, the French musketeer that fell during the siege of Maastricht. Last but not least, you can find a bird aviary and a deer camp. The park is definitely worth a visit due to its many attractions. Old remnants from Maastricht’s walls, which you can walk on and different forms of art can be find there.
