Cuevas de Anzota is one of the most important and most visited natural attractions in Arica. Located on the southern coastal edge of the city, 10 km from the foot of Morro de Arica, these caves correspond to a natural geological formation dating from the Jurassic period, being carved by water and the coastal wind. The caves provided protection to the first settlers of this place, becoming a strategic point for survival where subsistence was centered on the sea. © Istock/JeremyRichards
