The golf club Essen-Heidhausen, founded in 1970, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010. The plant in the scenic south of Essen in the midst of a nature reserve with the places "Hespertal" and "Schauinsland" has developed steadily and planned. The English Golf course architect Donald Harradine was commissioned with the planning at the time and harmoniously integrated the fairways into the hilly terrain, which was overgrown with mature trees. The 18 holes of the course "Hespertal" with par 72 were extensively modernized in 2009 and are now with a completely new face and pose a real challenge for players of all handicaps dar. On the total of approximately 80 acres of grounds are lush bush and groups of trees, ponds, streams and numerous animal species, which give the player despite the difficulties of the place an eventful round of golf. In 1999, a further 9 holes were opened next to the "old" Hespertal. With a length of 2,066 meters for men and 1,824 meters for women and par 32, "Schausinsland" offers a short but tricky course. Of the 27 fairways of the system are also on tournament days always nine holes free. The hospitality of the club is appreciated far beyond Essen's city limits. In the cozy and elegant clubhouse with very good and friendly gastronomy 120 guests can be accommodated. After the round, the large terrace invites you to relax in summer.
