A castle of fragmented ruins, built in 1066 by the Normans as they arrived on this land to invade England. Over the years the castle has been damaged more and more, particualry by storms and erosion, resulting in large parts of the original structure having fallen into the sea. However, it still stands in its ruins as a reminder of the Norman conquest of England that began in 1066. © Photo:IR_Stone
