Located inside the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation area, this large garden was first constructed in the 60's, and is one of the most recognized projects of portuguese modern landscape arquitecture. The multiple paths are opportunities for different strolls, different ways to experience the garden, designed to provide spaces, ambiances and 'microlandscapes' instead of regular axes and patterns. There is as much shade under the trees as there are places to enjoy the sun! Throughout your walk you will find the buildings of the foundation, museum and library, aswell as the open-air amphitheater for occasional activities and the cafe-esplanade. There is a wide variety of local species of vegetation and animals, like the easy noticeable birds and turtles. Multiple lakes also add to the peaceful, relaxing and fresh atmosphere of the garden.
