The Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo is a civil society of public interest, non-profit, founded in 1948. Its collection has more than 5 thousand works produced by the most representative names of modern and contemporary art, mainly Brazilian. Both the collection and the exhibitions privilege experimentalism, opening up to the plurality of world artistic production and the diversity of interests of contemporary societies.

The main exhibitions are held in two rooms, according to an annual grid structured in four seasons. Other exhibitions are regularly exhibited in the library and connecting hall spaces, where the Project Wall installation program is developed. The Resident DJ program integrates the expositor grid, aimed at the diffusion of experimental sound researches in the internal areas of the museum.

Every two years, the MAM carries out the Panorama of Brazilian Art, an exhibition that results from the mapping of contemporary production in all regions of the country. The growth of interest in Brazilian art in the world consolidated Panorama as a relevant show in the international artistic circuit.

The museum also maintains a wide range of activities including courses, seminars, lectures, performances, musical shows, video sessions and artistic practices. The content of exhibitions and activities is accessible to all audiences, through audioguides, video games and translation into Brazilian sign language.

The MAM is located in Parque Ibirapuera, the most important green area of São Paulo. The building was adapted by Lina Bo Bardi and has, in addition to the exhibition rooms, atelier, library, auditorium, restaurant and shop. The spaces of the museum integrate visually with the Sculpture Garden, designed by Roberto Burle Marx to house works of the collection. All rooms are accessible to visitors with special needs.
