The São Paulo Museum of Art is a private non-profit museum founded by the Brazilian businessman Assis Chateaubriand in 1947, who together with the couple Lina Bo and Pietro Maria Bardi formed the most important collection of European art in the Southern Hemisphere. Today, the MASP collection brings together more than 10,000 works, including paintings, sculptures, objects, photographs and clothing from various periods, covering European, African, Asian and American production. In addition to the permanent exhibition of its collection, MASP performs an intense program of temporary exhibitions, courses, lectures, presentations of music, dance and theater.
