Monument to Aliya Moldagulova and Manshuk Mametova, Almaty

The monument illustrates two young warrior women who appear to be heroes of the Kazakhstani people. They both voluntarily went to WWII and bravely died during the battle. It was an exceptional situation for women to join the war back in time. Therefore as an admiration, they both got dedicated monuments across Kazakhstan and in particular together they are standing in the city center of Almaty city. The park where the monument is located is called Astana Park and is only 20 min by walk from the famous Panfilov Park, which is also dedicated to WWII heroes. © iStock / Leonid Andronov
