Denmark's last four-lined and thatched manor house.
The first time we hear about Hessel is the year 1391, but the history of the farm goes even further. The original Hessel may have been a haven for pirates who watched the sail on Hvalpsund and Lovns brook.
In 1704 large parts of Hessel burned down. The oldest building is the large barn, a so-called high-rise, where the heavy oak trees originate from around 1650.
The main building, the farmhouse, was originally built in a timber mill. But this is now only seen in front of the park. In the farmhouse you find the original furniture, dating back to the 1800s, as they stood in the last owners' time - the genus Elle.
