The desire to know foreign countries has always been very strong in the Czech lands. In the second half of the 19th century and especially in the first half of the 20th century, this desire was fulfilled and travelers like Emil Holub, Enrique Stanko Vráz, Josef Kořenský, Karel Domin, Alois Musil, Alberto Vojtech Frič, Jan Welzl, Jiří Baum, František Elstner, František V, Foit i Stanislav Škulina, they have become famous and popular personalities in their time. Travel, especially outside Europe, was perceived as something extraordinary. Reading of travel books and various lectures were the only way for most of us to know exotic lands. Even though the world is open to us today, we want to bring the Czech travelers closer to the public, which, unfortunately, is a bit forgotten. They were the real Czech scouts who made the whole world accessible to us in the form of books from their paths.

The museum is conceived as a space for relaxation for those interested in traveling of all ages. You can see unique prints of old travel books and maps of all corners of the world. If you need information about a particular area, you will have them at firsthand - from the books of certified authors who have spent enough time in those places and have actually explored them. Library Liberec Křešničková has an excellent overview of the museum's book collection, which counts about 30,000 volumes and is ready to help you in your research and prepare good coffee for relaxation. At the summer terrace in the courtyard, nothing will disturb you. As part of the activity, we are planning a cycle of travel lectures and at the same time we offer a projection hall with a sound system and a capacity of 30 seats for your lectures and events. We also plan reading fairy tales and divalent shows for children. We also welcome parents with children. A colostrum will be ready for you, and there is plenty of space in the yard for the strollers. There is an outdoor children's corner. Part of the museum's book collections are also for sale.
