The National Museum of Uzice (NMU), a regional museum responsible for the territory of eight municipalities of Zlatibor district (Uzice, Bajina Bašta, Kosjerić, Požega, Arilje, Čajetin, Novi Varoš and Sjenica). It was formed on July 12, 1946, first as the Museum of the Uprising in 1941. Within the NMU there are professional departments for archeology, ethnology, history and art history, pedagogical service, professional library, conservation workshops, photo laboratories, general, material and financial services and assistant technical services. The experts of the Museum deal with scientific research and museum research work, processing of museum objects, conservation and restoration, photographic and documentary work, exhibition and publishing activities, educational and informational-marketing work, providing services to museum material users and cooperating with similar institutions . In the second building of the Museum there are three permanent settings: "Uzice, origin and development", "Legacy of the painter Mihailo Milovanovic" and "History of Dedicated production in Uzice from 1928 to the present". The permanent exhibition "The Uprising in Yugoslavia 1941", which was located in the first building of the Museum, was dislocated in 2005/06. after 45 years of existence. Work on the reconstruction of the new setting of the memorial character "Uzice Republic" is ongoing, within which the rooms of the Supreme Headquarters of NPPO and Josip Broz Tito will be available again. In the Jokanović house there is a permanent setting "Town House from the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX century", and in Kadinjača, within the memorial house, "Radnički Battalion in the Battle of Kadinjača" and "Uzice End in NATO Aggression". From April 30, 2009 within the organization of the work of the National Museum of Uzice, a presentation of the hydroelectric power plant "Pod Gradom" was also presented. For the entire work, the Museum received significant awards and numerous awards, among which two "Valtrovic Awards" were awarded by the Museum Society of Serbia and the Vuk's Prizes.
