The founder of the Pilsen Ethnographic Museum was Ladislav Lábek (1882 - 1970), whose memorial plaque welcomed the visitors at the very entrance to the museum building. First of all, thanks to it, in 1915, one of the most important ethnographic museums in Bohemia was opened to the public in Pilsen. However, for the official establishment of the Ethnographic Museum, the Pilsen and Pilsen visitors had to wait for another more than two years. At present the museum manages large collections, documenting almost all aspects of the life of the inhabitants of Pilsen and Pilsen.

The museum is located in the historical center of Pilsen and is housed in two historic houses. In the Gerlachovsky House (with the remains of the Bartlovsky House), oriented to the Wooden Street and Chotěšovský House, whose Renaissance facade is turned into the Republic Square. The Chotěšov House is named after the Premonstratensian monastery in Chotěšov, which owned the building from 1487 to 1782.

In the ground floor of the Chotěšovský dům there is a barrier-free exhibition hall, which hosts not only ethnographic, but also historical, travel, artistic or scientific exhibitions.

In the courtyard of the museum, the visitor will appreciate the Renaissance arcade facade of the former Probošt residence, which is the only preserved building of this type in Pilsen. On the first floor of the museum there is an exhibition documenting burghers' interiors and furniture from the 14th to the first third of the 20th century. The exhibition on the second floor is devoted to rural life in the Pilsen region from the late 18th to the second half of the 19th century. Here are the folk annual and family customs of Pilsen.

At the same time, the visitor will also see a unique and comprehensive collection of Pilsen, Platis, Hradiste, Silver, Chotěšov and Chodov costumes. On the ground floor of the Gerlachov house is also a period exhibition of a pharmacy with medical aids and medical instruments from the second half of the 19th century.

Historically valuable premises of the Ethnographic Museum regularly hold Christmas or Easter events, presenting the general public with the customs and customs associated with these holidays.
