Description

Located in the Plaza de Juan XXIII, nº 15, we find the Episcopal Palace of Salamanca in the classicist style that was rebuilt in the s. XIX The Palace currently houses the diocesan archives and is a museum of sacred art with two floors for exhibition activities.   The palace had a medieval origin but at the end of the XVIII it was in a lamentable state, possibly as a result of the Earthquake of Lisbon. In 1875 the construction was launched and started by José Secall y Asión. It is a clear example of classicist eclecticism of the last third of the s. XIX The main facade faces east facing the doors of the Cathedrals. Its plant is U-shaped, with padded corners with asymmetrical balusters and garlanded oculi in the attic. On the ground floor are the administrative offices, on the main floor is the chapel, the reception room, dining rooms and private rooms of the bishop. ...
