It's name means 'apples' beach', and it comes from older times, when, from the orchards of Colares, ripe apples fell to the river that later drains into the sea, making the apples appear in the beach. It has good access, two salt water pools and a few tennis courts close by. It has sanitary facilities and is supervised during summer. The town close by provides plenty of restaurants, stores and is also worth a stroll.
