Big and Small Škrčko lakes are located 1700m above sea level, at the foot of Prutaš, Šareni, Bobotov Kuk and Soa mountains, in the west part of the National Park Durmitor, on the border of Žabljak and Plužine town-councils. The lakes are unique not only because of beautiful landscapes around, but also by the water level they appear. They are located so high that considered to be the most inaccessible lakes of the National park. Sometimes Big Škrčko lake is called Green lake, because of its green water color. Water in the lake flows out through rocky gutters and disappears in deep interstices. Soon water flow comes to the surface and becomes a famous Skakala waterfall and later the Sušica river.
