Vasarely Museum Budapest: The Vasarely Museum of the Museum of Fine Arts was donated by Victor Vasarely to the Hungarian state in the early eighties. One of the wings of the Baroque Zichy Castle of Óbuda was reconstructed for the permanent exhibition of works selected by itself.

The museum opened its doors in 1987 and is one of the richest Vasarely collections in Central and Eastern Europe.   The collection of more than four hundred unique and multiplied creations provides an in-depth overview of the artist's oeuvre from early, adverts made in Hungary to op art works from the sixties and seventies to plastic works.

Victor Vasarely's life: On April 9, 1906, he was born in Pécs under the name of Győző Vásárhelyi. 1928-1929 After Artur Podolini-Volkmann's free drawing school, he studied at the Workshop of Bortnyik Sándor, where he learned the visual pedagogical principles of Bauhaus. 1930-1939 Moves to Paris. He will soon open a well-functioning advertising graphic studio. 1940-1943 Turns to fine art: surrealism works for his early works. On July 13, 1944, the Denise René Gallery opened in Paris, with its founding co-owner. First exhibition: Vasarely's drawings and graphic compositions. 1947-1954 Vasarely turns to geometric abstract and optical art. At the intersection of the Paris metro lines, in the denser passages of the Denfert-Rochereau station, he senses the fine hair cracks in the walls of the walls. They inspire the works of the Denfert era. The works of the Belle-Isle era (1947-1954) were inspired by the clever forms of stones and shells brushed by the waves of the sea.
