In the first part of the 1800s there were quite limited possibilities for watching theater on a proper stage in Vejle. The club building in Torvegade 10 was used as well as a theater hall in Hansens Pub on Rådhustorvet. But good conditions were not for the many different theatrical companies that came past the city during a season. One had to have a new, real theater. A public limited company was formed and on 23 November 1882 the foundation stone was added to the theater building at the railway station. On September 16, 1884, there was such an invasion of the imposing building, which had its shortcomings, but it was unfortunate that they had forgotten actresses, so they had to be rearranged and beyond the audience. The acoustics of the theater hall were also not very good either. The theater was primarily used by traveling companies - and there were many of them, of a very swinging quality! - but also for concerts, the first film shows and masquerade. However, it still has enough working capital to maintain the building. Attempts to dispose of the building stranded, and in 1919 the public company behind Vejle Theater had to liquidate. Horse trader Carl Sørensen, Knabberup, joined and paid for an internal restoration and a new limited company was formed so that the roadmakers could keep their theater. In 1930, Søren Peter Jensen became a sole owner and renamed the building to the "Theaterhotellet". However, there had been a hotel permit since 1912, where just Søren Peter Jensen has been renting until 1927. During the occupation, the Germans seized the theater. After the war, the theater building declined more and more, so in 1960, Jakob Jakobsen, county doctor, bought the building and closed the theater at Banegårdspladsen for a thorough rebuilding. On January 5, 1963 the theater opened again. But the time was not for the theater drama. At first the movie medium and the TV overheard the theater, and less and less played on stage in the theater. In 1974 Olaf Haahr took over the building to his oil company. After Haahr bought the old theater building, the association Theater Triangle performed a transition play in there.
