Vieux Nice (Old City, Nice)

Old Nice (Vila-Vielha or more commonly Babazouk in Niçois) is the old part of the city of Nice in France.

The old Nice is packed with many shops, which can be as extremely typical (selling olives and spices of all kinds, local vegetables or local flowers) as very modern (fashionable clothing shops, many tattoo artists) as well as artists' galleries. At night, it is a place of rendezvous and the nightlife for Nice. Its narrow streets are lined with restaurants, pubs and clubs of all kinds.

Old Nice is bordered:

in the east: by the hill of the castle (the fortress in question was destroyed in 1704 by the troops of Louis XIV); in the south: by the sea and the quay of the United States (extension of the promenade des Anglais); in the west: by the Masséna sq. in the north: by Piazza Garibaldi. The neighborhood includes several administrative buildings such as the town hall or the Courthouse. There is also the Opéra de Nice.
