There are many different festivals during the summer season in Serbia, combining various topics and themes: food, music, movies, performances. When it comes to choosing which one to visit, there are no much criteria other than personal preferences, so let’s take a look at the three most popular summer festivals across Serbia.
Exit Festival started in 2000, during political protests and strong, democratic beliefs of the youth in Serbia. It continued year after year, improving, growing and raising funds and popularity. In the 2010s it started gaining popularity internationally and has won the Best Major Festival award at the annual European Festival Awards several times.
Exit is held within the walls of the fortress from the 17th century. It consists of 10+ stages and different music genres: pop, rock, techno, trance, alternative, latino, etc. Exit Festival is the most popular among younger population and it has something for every taste. It is especially popular with British and German visitors.
Gucha is a must visit festival for all the rakia lovers out there. Gucha Festival is all about trumpets and traditional Serbian sounds. Even if you are not a fun of the trumpet rhythms, you will have enormous amount of fun as this festival is basically a synonym for hefty amount of rakia, dance and overall good mood.
The beautiful girls dressed in traditional Serbian clothes will magically appear wherever you go and offer more shots of a strong local rakia.
20+ years old jazz tradition in Nis has been important event both musically and culturally. During its history, it has brought the world's finest jazz music to the Balkans. Occasionally, the Nisville crew would organize late night jam sessions or lectures where all the artists from that year’s lineup give interactive lectures and chat about different subjects with the audience.
