New Year’s events in Georgia

I have already written about the New Year’s traditions in Georgia. The month of December is fun, and we are always excited about the upcoming holidays, so I decided to talk about the New Year’s events in Georgia. Our country is always ready for magic and fun that awaits you even before the New Year. 

East Point and Botanical Garden

Let’s start from the biggest shopping mall “East Point” that is located in Tbilisi. Every year since its opening, East Point is turning into a magical place where the Christmas tree lighting ceremony takes place. During the event, the visitors enjoy live music, and there is a big game zone for the children.

While waiting for the end of December, you can also visit Tbilisi Botanical Garden, where you can enjoy the tastiest festival ever. Visitors can taste all kinds of chocolates, both Georgian and imported ones. On top of that, who can say no to a hot chocolate that is served on the place?

Gudauri Ski Resort and New Year’s Festival

Next location is Gudauri Ski Resort. Every year, there is a ski season grand opening in the middle of December, that is the most important event for the ski lovers. If you want to fly over snowy mountains of Georgia and enjoy other winter activities, don’t miss this event.

Another interesting event that is held in Tbilisi is the New Year’s Festival. During this festival, traditional Georgian dishes, national sweets, wine and Chacha (special Georgian vodka) are presented. In addition, you can participate in the master-classes of their preparation process that usually takes place in Rike Park every year. The organizers always promise many interesting activities and lots of fun.

More events

There are several more events on the different locations that might interest you in Tbilisi during the month of December. To start with Fabrika, you can visit New Year’s Flea Market there. If you are a sports lover, you can take part in the annual “Christmas Run”, that usually takes place on Lisi Lake. It starts in the morning, and the distance to cover is 6 km. This is a charity event, and the participation costs 10 Lari (3.3 Euro). Also, one more Flea Market is represented in Mtatsminda Park, where you can see hand-made stuff and enjoy the city views. If you are a flowers lover, you can visit the exhibition in the Gardenia Shevardnadze, and buy your favorite kinds of flowers.
