When on Pag Island, you will surely spend at least one day for a visit to Zrće Beach. And yes, Zrće is the party capital of Pag and maybe of all Adriatic coast. If you are crazy about the parties, it will feel like home. So, even if you are not so much into whole-day-long-dancing and loud music, don’t give up from Pag quickly, as it has so much to offer. Come to Novalja, for example. You will find all sorts of beaches here. You can go for a very long walk along the coast, as Novalja has one of the longest walking paths in comparison to the size of the town. You can also take a break in one of many restaurants that offer delicious domestic dishes, or maybe run a race across Mars-like landscape in Novalja. I know I have your attention, and I will not keep you waiting, so let's start.
Imagine yourself running like in one of those commercials for sneakers. Where would you like to run? Would it be a park, a path by the river, or maybe a Mars-like land? Yes, you read it well. One of the newly defined running paths in Novalja looks like the Mars surface. At least I felt like that. One part of the running path is along the sea, while the other parts will challenge your balance skills since they will lead you across the rocky landscape. Even if you are not the winner and would take time to finish the race, you can enjoy the afternoon sun covering these natural Mars-like beauties. It will really feel like on Mars.
One of the valuable places to visit is for sure the City Museum of Novalja. There, you can see the most important historical moments of the city and this region, and how people lived here centuries ago. In the town center, don’t miss to visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. It is the church that dates back to the 5th century, built in Gothic style, where the remaining floor mosaic still exists. Also, when it comes to religion, one of the oldest illustrations of Maria, Our Lady, in the whole Adriatic coast was found here. In Stomorica, you will see the leftovers of the old church furniture together with some valuable archeological items.
Not so far from the island, there are a few smaller, mostly uninhabited islands, such as Maun and Planik. Maun is great for diving, as there are a few great underwater spots around the island. There are a few more smaller islands, and all of them are mainly hidden from the big crowd, so you only need a boat, and you will have peace and silence.
Come to Novalja and run a race across Mars-like landscape because everyone here is the winner. Besides running and being fascinated with this Mars-like landscape, Novalja is welcoming you with its amazing history and beautiful Adriatic islands in the vicinity.
