Are you looking for a good spot to take Instagram pictures in Vilnius? I have a suggestion: Savičius Street situated in the Old Town of Vilnius. Every weekend, and during the warm season, this street is reserved exclusively for the pedestrians. This tiny street, just about 180 m long, is surrounded by homey Old Town architecture and a vibrant atmosphere. During the weekends, Savičius Street turns into the best place for food lovers to try tasty food and create new memories.

An unexpected discovery in the heart of the Old Town

Savičius Street is tiny and comparably shorter than other roads in the area. It stretches close to the Town Hall of Vilnius. The Town Hall's nearby Vokiečių Street is one of the main hubs for the nightlife of Vilnius. In this area, one can find many restaurants and world-famous clothing brand stores. Because of these main attractions close-by, it is easy to miss this tiny street set between colorful buildings. You may ask why Savičius Street is so different from other alleys located nearby (for instance Pilies Street). One of the reasons is that during the sunny and warm weekends, this alley becomes a social hub for various people (and usually for their pets too). Every single restaurant on this street brings their tables in the middle of the road so that you can sit side by side with your friends and loved ones. During the evenings, this place becomes so crowded, that it even gets hard to cross the street from one side to the other. This path converts into a loud Italian-style street, placed in the very heart of the Old Town of Vilnius

The right place for food lovers

The bars and restaurants in Savičius Street are located side by side. Therefore there are a lot of tasty food varieties. The most popular bar which serves various types of beer and Mexican food is called Blusynė. Although this bar has many tables placed on the street, if you don't find a place up front, keep in mind that this bar has additional space in the backyard. The other perfect spot for fine dining and some tasty French cuisine is the French restaurant, named Balzac. The restaurant also has a cozy interior and serves delicious and tasty food for the best foodie memories. If you are looking for traditions inspired experiences, visit the Queensberry restaurant. Dedicated to the Lithuanian cuisine, Queensberry serves modern Lithuanian dishes with local and seasonal ingredients. Despite the different types of restaurants, the common, most popular cocktail to drink in Savičius Street is the Aperol Spritz

Amber and arts

The other highlights of Savičius Street are the amber jewelry shop, called the Arza Gallery, and the house of the world-famous musician and artist, M.K. Čiurlionis. The Arza Gallery is famous for its raw amber, its jewelry, and also for its friendly and very knowledgeable staff. So, if you are looking for Lithuanian gold - amber, or you forgot to buy some in the city of Palanga, this place would be the first recommendation in Vilnius. The M.K. Čiurlionis House is full of the musicians' heirlooms and music records. This small museum is the best place to get acquainted with the art of M.K. Čiurlionis
