Tartu, the second-largest city in Estonia, is actually not that big, but since it is the students' mecca, it never gets boring. Tartu is packed with different restaurants, cafes, and shops. And what makes it the best place for shopping is that the city is small and easy to get around. If you get tired of one shopping mall, there are malls literally around every corner.

Lõunakeskus – the biggest shopping mall in southern Estonia

The biggest shopping mall, where you can spend your entire day shopping in Tartu without even noticing it, is Lõunakeskus. Yes, it is a little further away from the city center, but it is totally worth the trip, and you probably will satisfy all your shopping needs there since it is the biggest shopping mall in Southern Estonia, where everyone from the south comes to shop. It has 170 different stores, and when you get your shopping done, you can rest in one of many cafes and restaurants, do a few rounds on the full-sized ice rink or watch a movie at the cinema. Your kids will probably be happy with driving electric cars.

Kaubamaja – iconic shopping center

When you get to the city center, the best place to start your shopping is probably Kaubamaja. This iconic shopping center tries to gather the best brands and classic collections. Kaubamaja has 60 different stores, and after shopping, you might want to step into a food store; they offer a large variety of gourmet goods you might not get anywhere else in Estonia. It stands right in the middle of Tartu and is easily accessible from everywhere.

Kvartal – the newest and funkiest shopping center

Kvartal was just opened in 2016 and is the newest and most interesting shopping center in Tartu-or even in the whole Estonia. Besides its countless shops and restaurants, you can visit a spa located in Kvartal. V Spa is considered to be one of the best resorts in Estonia.

Tasku -  Tartu in your pocket

Tasku (meaning 'pocket' in Estonian) is mostly known for the movie theatre located in there. The movie theatre Cinamon always has the newest movies. If you like books, step in the Rahva Raamat – this cozy bookstore is a perfect place to stroll through bookshelves and find something interesting to read. There is also a small café.
