To be honest, you can’t compare Tallinn to Paris when it comes to romance. But this small city has a lot to offer – narrow idyllic streets in the Old Town, cosy cafes and, of course, sunset by the sea to remember, within just a short walk from the city center. Spending a romantic day in Tallinn with your loved one will be a memory to cherish.

Wander around the Old Town

Tallinn Old Town with its narrow little streets offers a lot to discover. Wander off aimlessly and admire the picturesque medieval architecture. Don’t forget to pop into small backstreets, like St. Catherine's Passage, where used to be a monastery 700 years ago. One of the oldest streets in Tallinn is now a home to many art studios and workshops, where you can learn to make ceramics, glass and hats. If you want to rest your legs, the Old Town is full of cosy little cafes and restaurants to grab a bite to eat and drink a warming cappuccino.  If you want to surprise your loved one with a bouquet of flowers, head towards Viru street, where you can buy the freshest and prettiest flowers.

Walk in the steps of royalty

If you want to take a walk in the steps of royalty, you should head to Kadriorg. Beautiful castle of Kadriorg is located just a few bus stops from the city center. Tsar Peter the Great had it built to be his summer residence. Now being an art museum, the castle is one of a kind. While other tsar's castles were damaged in the wars, Kadriorg Castle remains one of the authentic baroque interiors of Tsar Peter the Great's era. Around the castle is a big park where you can walk and see different canals, fountains, gardens and pavilions.

A romantic sunset by the sea

Walking towards Russalka, a memorial to a Russian ship that sank on the road from Tallinn to Helsinki, you will reach the seaside. Pirita promenade stretches for two kilometers and is one of Tallinn’s most beautiful places to walk and enjoy the view and the sea. You can sit down on one of the benches, throw small rocks in the sea or just walk around, listening to seagulls. Pirita offers you a place of tranquility before you head back to the city center.
