Today, I am going to tell you where you can take a photo in Armenian national dress Taraz. Photo Atelier Marashlyan in Yerevan is a very famous photo studio that started its activities in 2013 and was founded by a repatriate Armenian - Emma Marashlyan. The idea behind was to promote Armenian Taraz (traditional dress) and costumes. So, those who are willing to have pictures in national clothing in a very traditional Armenian environment usually make their way to Marashlyan’s studio.

The studio

The studio is located in the central Mher Mkrtchyan Street.  Besides being professional in making good quality pictures, the photographer also helps you to pick the right accessories and clothing to make your photo session even better. Here, you may find a big selection of Tarazes, jewelry, head accessories and decorations for a house, such as Armenian carpets. There, can be held both individual as well as family and group photo sessions. What is interesting, these kinds of pictures became much liked among the internationals who live in Armenia as well as travelers from abroad, who also visit Marshlyan for nice pictures. This is a great way to take with you something that will always remind you of your visit to Armenia. 

Besides the studio located in Yerevan, there is also another, a smaller one, based in the Syunik province, by the Tatev Monastery complex. It is one of the most visited sites of Armenia, and by making your way there, you can also stop by the studio to make a couple of nice pictures.  

Armenian Taraz

Taraz is an Armenian national dress. Tarazes, in general, look similar. However, each region of Armenia had its own style of making Tarazes with specific ornaments and colors.  Each symbol and color has a meaning behind it and even through colors it was possible to guess whether that person is married or not. These traditional dresses are an integral part of Armenian culture, and even in the History Museum of Armenia, you can find a separate section dedicated to it and its history.

Currently, the Armenian girls wear clothes, hats, bags and other accessories that contain details of Tarazes. The modernized versions of Taraz are also available at Teryan cultural center, and some do order and wear it during different events. In this center among other things, you can also find the scarves, bags and other things with traditional motives.
