The summer is at our doorstep, and if you are like me, you are already planning your journey and your destinations. And if you are a music festivals fan, this is the article about Romania you were looking for! Sometimes the choices are very clear, but sometimes you just want to try something new. Either way, you should check this list of 7 must attend festivals in Romania this summer! I have chosen festivals in Romania for all tastes, so surely there is something here for you too!

Sunwaves SW23

First on my list is the Sunwaves Festival that takes place this year from 26th April to 1st of May in Mamaia. Yes, you have to hurry up if you are going to attend this festival. Techno music with Magda and Argentis Brinto, an outdoor festival on the Black Sea with fine sand beach and a lot of socializing awaits you!

If you still have some energy left, you should definitely visit also the Vama Veche traditional celebration of Labour Day. People from all over the country come to celebrate the 1st of May and enjoy the beach and the sea for the first time in the year.

Jazz in the Park Festival

Outdoor festivals are my favorites. And this festival is one of best. Jazz in the Park takes place in Cluj-Napoca between the 21st of June and 1st of July in the Central Park. The best part is: people who attend this festival hang their hammocks in the park, sit on the grass and enjoy good music, good company, and nature.

Some concerts take also place in the National Museum of Art or theaters. This year line-up includes Alfa Mist, Alfa Mist, Soweto Kinch, Nik Bartsch’s Ronin, Moonlight Breakfast, JazzyBIT, A-C Leonte, Antal Gabor Trio. It is also an opportunity to get to know the Romanian Culture as the Fanfara Ciocârlia is also part of this years line up.

ArtMania

Rock fans, I haven’t forgotten you. Between the 27th and the 28th of June takes the ArtMania Festival place near the Council Tower in Sibiu. You can listen to the music of Steven Wilson, Arcane Roots, Leprous, HAKEN, Rome, Zeal&Ardor or Distorted Harmony at this years edition.

Not only the concerts make this festival special but the idea to create a music festival, starting from cultural heritage. During the festival, multiple cultural events take place: book presentations, art exhibition or movie projections and the music is only a part of the cultural program.

Stay tuned for the second part of the article, where you will find more of the 7 must-see festivals in this summer in Romania. Also, they take place in must-see cities or places in Romania, so you have the chance to get to know or rediscover these romanian treasures.
